New Active Inclusion Project: ‘Y Engage – Carmarthenshire’

We are excited to be a partner with a new collaborative project for 2016 between ourselves, YMCA Swansea and YMCA Llandovery.  ‘Y Engage’ will up-skill, mentor, signpost and support adults living in Carmarthenshire between the ages of 25 and 64 years who have low skills and work limiting health conditions by providing access to services to raise aspirations and confidence to move them towards becoming economically active and closer to employment.

The project will address high levels of deprivation attributed to lack of access to services in Llandovery and Ammanford areas and work with adults with low skills levels, work limiting health conditions and those who are economically inactive – especially those with mental health problems, people recovering from ill health and lone parents.

The aim is to enable people to up-skill by building aspiration, removing barriers to participation, providing incremental ways of improving health, well-being and fitness levels and providing access to training and support in their community  As a result, participants will be healthier, have more skills and be more confident, moving them closer to employment.

Activities will include health and wellbeing, fitness, arts, volunteering, work placements, employer visits, confidence building, CV writing, interview skills and job searching.
